The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including over 17,000 sworn officers, providing policing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Working alongside a socially, geographically and culturally diverse community, the organisation's vision is A Safer New South Wales.
Supporting that vision is one of Australia's largest government social media operations. Across eight corporate platforms, the NSW Police Force reaches an average of 66 million people each month and generates more than 1 million monthly interactions. This is complemented by the Eyewatch network, comprising 76 local Facebook pages with a combined following of 2.4 million, connecting local police with communities across the state.
More than a communications channel, social media is a core policing capability. It enables the NSW Police Force to deliver emergency information in real time, support crime prevention, disruption and response, communicate operational activity, promote recruitment, and strengthen community engagement. With the ability to reach millions of people every month, its digital presence plays a critical role in keeping the people of New South Wales informed, connected and safe.
